Scotland’s First Ever National Green Day!
Glasgow’s George Square was crammed with lots of eco friendly things to see and do on Saturday the 3rd of November. National Green Day was formally opened by Environment Minister, Mike Russell MSP.

Scotland’s first National Green Day was a consumer fair showcasing environmental products. There were a number of exhibitors and activities for all ages:-
3 lucky winners got to share the £500 prize for guessing the number of recyclable bottles crammed into the eco-hybrid car.
Visitors were able to go shopping and save money too! Energy saving devices were on sale. People could purchase devices to measure their household energy use, find out more about solar and wind power devices for their homes and buy funky recycled bags and other products.

The Cycle Shop also had lots of different types of bikes for young and old and visitors were able to find out more about what Glasgow is doing to get more cycle lanes in the city.
Things to see and do
The Eco Bus was in town! It’s a double decker where children could find out all about recycling in a fun way and get ‘hands on’ experience by entering the ‘Conveyor Belt Challenge’, to help teach children the value of sorting rubbish before sending it to be recycled.

The Biggart Baillie Team
Friends of the Earth’s large inflatable Ecopod was there to be explored. There were fun and interactive experiences for kids with quizzes and games.
Visitors got to roll up their sleeves and make apple juice with the apple press at the children’s orchard and light up light bulbs with a mini wind turbine.

Live music– Scottish band, The Black Sheep Music Society, played their single ‘fly’ which is a charity single in aid of National Green Day and The Prince’s Trust. The single is still on sale and the band is headlining a
